Stormforge isn’t just the name of a World of Warcraft rogue server that’s in the process of closing up shop; it’s also the name of a multiplayer survival sandbox (unofficially but obviously) inspired by D&D and Brandon Sanderson’s Stormlight Archive that we’ve been watching since 2024. In fact, when that WoW server post went out, I put it on my to-do list to check back in on the development of this new game since it went into alpha, but the devs have very kindly made that job easier for me as they just put out a press release and a new trailer to remind us that hey, they’re still here, still in alpha, and still en route.
“Roboto Games, the studio behind Stormforge, has released its latest gameplay trailer and confirmed that the highly anticipated cel-shaded fantasy survival crafting game will launch into Early Access later this year,” the team writes. The storms really make the source material obvious:
“Stormforge is a cooperative survival experience that supports up to 8 players, and is set in a world overrun by magical storms. Each storm presents unique dangers such as: tornadoes that fling rocks, trees, and enemies into the air; dust storms that reduce visibility and damage the player. The storms have unique mechanics that change how the game is played, and are brimming with powerful resources, but filled with deadly creatures. Players will fight, craft and survive as a warrior, mage, ranger or any combination of these with the ability to unlock character classes and unique skills and abilities.”
The presser also notes “deep support for modding” and what sounds like custom servers. The new trailer is below.
