It’s hard to believe that GSC Game World’s first story DLC for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl is right around the corner, especially with so many other upcoming releases. Nevertheless, as the latest gameplay video reveals, Cost of Hope presents some of the most intriguing environments yet. Check it out below.
The two new regions are the Iron Forest and Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant. Rather than a straightforward walkthrough, we get snippets of different sections. In one, Skif deals with the usual Anomalies, some dispersed with a screw while others must be walked around. However, there’s one that glows yellow and depends on line of sight.
Navigating around it is tricky, especially when trying to climb structures and scavenge any loot. Lest you think the Power Plant is any safer, there are enemies keen on shooting first and asking questions later, not to mention a fast-moving, armored individual who can slam you to the ground. Stay till the end because an entire city apparently waits underground.
It’s a lot, but rest assured – there’s much more to look forward to when Cost of Hope lands on August 20th. GSC Game World promised dozens of hours of new content, including quests, companions and weapons. And even if you don’t pick up the DLC, a free update will finally bring the game to Unreal Engine 5.
