The MMORPG giant Nexon officially confirmed what we’d been hearing for years now: Its next major MMORPG will be Overgeared, a game based on the Korean web novel series of the same name.
Overgeared originally came out from 2014 to 2024, with an anime series on the way as well. It’s in the LitRPG genre, telling the story of a guy whose involvement with an MMORPG takes an unexpected turn when he finds an item that allows him to forge incredible items as a legendary blacksmith. The web series was partially inspired by Lineage, which has a huge presence in Korea, and racked up over 1.3 billion views in its lifetime.
Nexon hopes to have Overgeared out globally by the end of 2026.
Overgeared is developed by Grey Games and will heavily focus on gear progression and “large scale competition.” This project doesn’t come as a complete surprise, as Nexon teased this MMO as far back as 2024, calling it Project T. The studio released a teaser trailer and teaser site to tease you with the teasy possibilities.
