Have you ever been playing a video game but thought that it would be better if you were building a giant walking mech to traverse a desert? If so, odd request, but it does mean you are exactly the target audience for Sand: Raiders of Sophie now that the game has entered into early access. Players can build their own modular trampler, arm it up with guns, go scavenge for supplies, and then hopefully trample off with minimal damage as they compete with other players for various resources.
The less-heartening news is that the game is currently sitting at a “Mixed” review score on Steam, with players citing the lack of matchmaking functionality as being something of a problem. The somewhat nicer news is that the game is currently available on a discount at just under $20, an offer that will run until July 6th. So if you’ve got a hankering for desert-based gunfights, check out the launch trailer down below and give a sandy excursion due consideration. Just cool it with the Anakin Skywalker jokes, everyone has heard all of them already.
