If one set of emulator devs can try, then why not another? Yes, as that headline above points out, the folks behind the now-shuttered TurtleWoW rogue server have elected to create their own indie dev studio — and make their own MMORPG to boot.

You can now call the emu devs Moonwhisper Games, which is resolved to put together a fully original MMORPG with its own IP, world, and story. As for what this new game is called or other details, it doesn’t appear that those have been nailed down yet, but the announcement does promise more details as the groundwork starts being laid.

Despite admitting that MMO development is among the most challenging in game dev, the announcement also points to the team’s “years building MMO experiences” and “creating content,” likely a reference to the things made in TurtleWoW using World of Warcraft as a base.

Until more information comes to light about Moonwhisper’s plans, the operators of TurtleWoW will begin transforming the rogue server’s Discord into the official online hub for the fledgling studio, removing all emu-related channels from the server. So if you’re already in there, prepare to see some new things. We’ll be watching.
