Summer Game Fest 2026
Live game reveals, world premiere trailers, and what’s next from 40+ developers, publishers, and hardware makers.
Dive in→

We’ve seen a ton of exciting games over the last week. PlayStation’s State of Play was bookended by Marvel’s Wolverine and God of War Laufey, Summer Game Fest saw the reveal of Resident Evil Veronica and Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, and the Xbox showcase offered the first glimpse at Persona 6 and a deep-dive on Gears of War: E-Day. But there were also a lot of previously announced games that we haven’t seen this summer. Here are a few of the glaring omissions from this year’s summer showcases.

1

Fairgame$

The last man standing of Sony’s ill-starred live-service games push, this “eat the rich” extraction shooter from Haven Games has been plagued by troubling news in recent months. Studio head Jade Raymond and game director Daniel Drapeau have both left the studio, and recent playtests of Fairgame$ reportedly saw users struggle to “find the fun.” In an attempt to ward off the flop stink, the project is rumored to be getting a new title, Break In, though there’s no official word on that just yet.

Kingdom Hearts 4

We got Dragon Quest 12 and FF7 Revelation trailers over the last several days, so Square Enix fans are eating good right now. We can expect to see more of KH4 when it doesn’t need to share the spotlight with other blockbuster franchises. It’s probably closer to being finished than DQ12, which means a Game Awards trailer in December isn’t totally out of the question.

Witcher 4

CD Projekt Red just revealed it’s working on new DLC for The Witcher 3, so it’s not surprising the team wasn’t eager to pull focus away from Songs of the Past. The DLC is slated to launch sometime in 2027, so we can expect to hear more after that.

Mass Effect 5

Bioware announced it was working on a successor to the divisive Mass Effect: Andromeda all the way back at the 2020 Game Awards. We’ve heard very little about the sequel ever since, barring a new piece of concept art depicting the Krogan Civil War revealed back in November 2025.

Star Wars Jedi Part 3

Speaking of studios owned by EA, we were hoping to see an update on the further adventures of Cal Kestis during this summer’s showcases. We’ve known since September 2023 that a third Star Wars Jedi game was in active development, and rumors have circulated in recent weeks that the third game will have a time skip and feature an older, more experienced Cal.

Star Wars Eclipse

Let’s shift gears from the Star Wars games everyone likes to the Star Wars game no one asked for. Quantic Dream, the studio behind Heavy Rain and Detroit: Become Human, announced its foray into a galaxy far, far away back at The Game Awards back in 2021. The game was originally set during the High Republic era, a storytelling initiative that Disney ended back in 2025, so there may have been a reboot behind the scenes. A source told Insider Gaming in April 2026 that, “the game, at this stage, is still looking to be years off from completion.”

GTA 6

Rockstar’s much-anticipated sequel is still planned to come out on Nov. 19. During parent company Take-Two Interactive’s most recent earnings call, CEO Strauss Zelnick confirmed that Rockstar would begin its marketing campaign for GTA 6 in the summertime. Technically, summer begins on Sunday, June 21, so we should start hearing more about the year’s most anticipated game in a few weeks.

8

OD

Hideo Kojima’s collaboration with Jordan Peele and Xbox Game Studios was first revealed at The Game Awards in 2023. The experimental horror game is said to leverage Xbox’s cloud gaming technology in a unique way, and it will star Sophia Lillis, Hunter Schafer, and Udo Kier. Kojima’s been at the Tribeca Festival this week promoting his Prada collaboration, but we wouldn’t be surprised to hear more about this project in December.

Jet Set Radio reboot

At The Game Awards in 2023, Sega announced plans to reboot five of its classic franchises — Jet Set Radio, Shinobi, Golden Axe, Streets of Rage, and Crazy Taxi. After a recent Sega earnings call, speculation ran rampant that a new installment of the skating adventure would appear in one of the summer showcases, but alas, it was not meant to be. (We did get to play Crazy Taxi: World Tour, though!)
