Resident Evil – Code: Veronica Remake is Targeting First Half of 2027 for Release – Rumor

Resident Evil Requiem isn’t even out yet, and rumors surrounding Resident Evil – Code: Veronica Remake are heating up. Following Dusk Golem’s report that an announcement is coming this year, another insider, NateTheHate, says it’s happening.

Apparently “deep in development,” the remake is targeting the first half of 2027. If you’ve followed the release cycle of any Resident Evil game since 2017, this shouldn’t be too surprising. Nevertheless, it’s good to hear other sources corroborating the remake’s existence.

First released in February 2000 for the Sega Dreamcast, Resident Evil – Code: Veronica followed the aftermath of the Raccoon City Destruction Incident. It stars Claire and Chris Redfield as they deal with the experiments and horrors of the Ashford family. While it retains the series’ classic survival horror gameplay, it’s the first to feature fully 3D environments and a more dynamic camera.

As for the remake, current rumors claim that Claire is being treated as the main character (though Chris still plays a part). Antagonist Albert Wesker also allegedly plays a “much bigger” role, and there will be additional scenes with the HCF, the special unit of Umbrella’s rival company.

While we wait for an official announcement, Resident Evil Requiem is due to receive new details before its launch on February 27th. It will be available for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.
