Fans of the cozy camper van sim Outbound were no doubt dejected when developer Square Glade announced that it would be delaying the launch from April 23rd to May 14th. However, the studio subsequently announced that it’s bumping up the launch date by a few days to avoid releasing against a more hardcore competitor.
“The highly anticipated title Subnautica 2 just revealed their release date — which falls exactly on our planned release date May 14th,” Square Glade’s developers said. “Even though we are very hyped for their game and big fans of the franchise, we think that it is best to not compete with such an highly anticipated title on that day.”
To “avoid the leviathan” of Subnautica 2, Outbound now is launching on May 11th for PC and Xbox. However, the other console releases — PlayStation 5 and both Nintendo Switches — still will release on May 14th. If you’re planning to check out the free demo, you’ll want to get in there soon, as that will go offline on May 8th.
