Welcome back to another roundup of MMOs and MMO-adjacent multiplayer games you’ve never heard of! Trust us this time, folks, you have absolutely never heard of these games before now. One of them is best described as a Frankengame. It’s pretty wild.

Roads & Riches

We begin with Roads & Riches, a self-described “traveling merchant simulator” where up to four players roam a fantasy-themed world in a mercantile caravan, selling unique treasures found around the realm to NPCs in various regions. The game is planning a release sometime this year, while a demo is scheduled to arrive sometime this summer.

The Story Page

Next up is The Story Page, an early access indie open world MMORPG from SPR-Games that hangs its hat on roleplaying and medieval fantasy themes. The game promises a world where NPCs live out their lives, a dialog system with varied responses, and unique magic spells to find, all with the ability to play in shared servers or on private ones with friends.

Texturetown

Last but not least is Texturetown, which devs describe as “an algorithmically remixed MMO created from assets of now-defunct mid-2000’s children’s MMOs.” This includes “altered code” from Toontown Online, sounds from Pirates of the Caribbean Online, text from Club Penguin, and textures from Fusionfall. The result, according to lone developer Aidan Strong, is a collage that “resists total understanding, but is technically completely playable.” Yay?
