Superpowered immortal humans running around a ruined Earth landscape and unloading on mutant creatures? Sure, why not? That’s the very basic outline for Project DNA, a newly revealed in-development MMORPG from South Korea’s Supervoid.
“In AD 2046, a sudden asteroid impact left the Earth in ruins. The few human survivors in underground bunkers advanced biotechnology to its peak, leading to the birth of the first humans with supernatural powers. With the ability to culture bodies and transfer memories, immortality has become a reality.
“Now, humanity — evolved with more powerful bodies and accumulated wisdom — begins the ultimate battle to reclaim and rebuild human civilization.”
Hard details on the game are otherwise a bit slim: Supervoid confirms the MMORPG is being built in Unreal Engine 5, with active combat control, the opportunity to “explore and pioneer a living world with its own politics, economy, and society” with other players, and an evolution system with genetic algorithms that let characters “grow and adapt in truly unique ways.” Speaking of characters, there are six such characters unveiled, each capable of wielding elemental power.
