It’s been a while since we covered RF Online, but there’s a reason for that: The game had struggled with a play-to-earn version and contract issues, leading to the end of the western version in 2023. Last fall, the OG game’s original Taiwanese server closed, bringing an end to the whole sordid saga, though we noted at the time that the IP itself wasn’t dead, having morphed into a PC/mobile game dubbed RF Online Next. The PC version was just for the Korean market, however, so there wasn’t much for us to get excited about.
Until now. You knew that “until now” was coming! Yep, Netmarble officially announced that it’s porting the sequel MMO to global audiences, and indeed pre-registration is now open.
“Netmarble, a leading developer and publisher of high-quality games, has officially opened global pre-registration for its Sci-Fi MMORPG RF ONLINE NEXT, ahead of its upcoming worldwide launch across PC and mobile platforms. RF ONLINE NEXT is the official sequel to RF Online, set in a vast and evolving sci-fi universe where machines replace flesh and blood. The game introduces a dynamic Biosuit system for seamless class switching, massive battlefield tools such as the MAU and Launcher, powerful summons like the Animus, and high-flying real-time combat that blends strategic depth with action-driven gameplay. Following its successful releases in Korea, Japan, and Taiwan, RF ONLINE NEXT is now preparing for a broader global expansion that brings the game to players across multiple regions worldwide as part of its next rollout phase. Language support will also be expanded with 12 additional languages planned, including German, French, and Spanish.”
Pre-registration for PC and mobile is live now on the official site, and of course, there are petty goodies in it for you if you do sign up early. What we don’t have is a hard launch date, but we’re guessing it won’t be far off. Worth noting is that while there are no Steam links, there’s a wishlist option available for the Epic Games Store.
