Would you like to experience MMORPG tanking gameplay without the stress of whether a party of real-life people are judging your every single decision? Then you might have been keeping an eye on Don’t Lose Aggro, a single-player roguelike where you tank swaths of enemies for your party of heroes — and a game that has officially begun early access.
“It has been a long and meaningful journey for me, making this game as a solo developer for 2.5 years,” writes developer Oren Koren, “so I really hope the tanking fantasy I envisioned will resonate. […] It’s Tanking Time!”
For those who haven’t been following along, Don’t Lose Aggro bills itself as a roguelike game and a training tool in equal measure, letting players craft fully custom tank builds via collected talent points that cover a pretty broad variety of tanking style, whether it’s straightforward blocking, interrupts, or dodging damage altogether.
It’s still early doors, but the game is currently earning itself a “positive” user review aggregate score: Gamers are enjoying its blend of MMORPG chops and dungeon crawler gameplay, though some are pointing out rough edges or calling boss fights a slog due to their ability to heal too fast.
