With any big project that you are working on over a long period of time, there comes a certain point when you need to see what other people think about it. So it goes for Kalmia Online, a newly announced indie MMORPG that’s conceived of as a cross between MapleStory and Ragnarok Online. The developers are holding the game’s first public playtest on the weekend of July 24th through July 26th, hoping to get as many people as possible signing up for the game via its official Discord.
The announcement promises that there’s no gacha, no payment for convenience, no autoplay, and no generative AI slop. While the core of the gameplay is present, it’s described as “by no means perfect” with player feedback and iteration seen as the best way of improving things. So if you want to jump into a new game that’s rough around the edges, this might be just right for you.
