If you’ve never heard of Godius, then that probably means that you’re not an MMORPG playing fan who lived in Korea or Japan back in 1999. This 2-D RvR title had many of the classic hallmarks of the genre and ran in both countries until its rather recent shutdown on July 23rd, 2025.
Well, it looks as if Korean developer Playinworld is bringing it back with a re-release known as Godius: Eternal War, which will make its first-ever global launch on Saturday, June 27th following an earlier closed beta testing round. The game lets players choose to align with one of two nations and engage in territory wars, guild fights, arena battles, and econ PvP.
Considering this is a modern re-release, the game will also introduce some conveniences like an improved tutorial and better inventory management, but by all accounts, this looks to effectively resurrect a classic title, for better or worse. Check it out in action in the video below.
