OK, so first thing’s first, this one looks like it’s another extraction shooter. However, the main hook of the upcoming Far Far West is arguably twofold: it’s PvE co-op only, and it involves robots in a Wild West setting taking on magical undead terrors. Perhaps that’s enough to get you interested in the fact that the FPS is headed for Steam early access on Tuesday, April 28th.
“Whether you’re a solo gunslinger or rolling with a crew, the undead foes awaiting you in Far Far West are unlike anything you’ve faced before. When a skeletal pterodactyl is looking to make you its next meal, or a hulking steam engine has gone off the rails to smear you into paste, robot cowboys are the most normal thing in this world.”
Far Far West lets teams of up to four players venture out into the wilds to take down bounty targets, clear contracts, and survive hordes of foes like undead skeletons, random magical storms, and what looks like a possessed saloon at one point in its announcement trailer, before exfiltrating via train.
Characters can gear up with an assortment of weapons and spells, from the conventional pistols and gatling guns to things like sheriff star shurikens, finger guns, and fireballs. Naturally, getting away with loot and completed objectives means characters can be improved back home, with progression done via upgrading guns, powering up spells, and earning skins for your gunslinging robot.
Fans might have gotten a taste of this one back in February through its Steam Next Fest demo, which developer Evil Raptor happily pointed out got an “overwhelmingly positive” review from over 6,000 players. Either way, this might be one to add to the ol’ wishlist if this kind of game is up your alley.
