Did you have “Diablo V gets an announcement” on your BlizzCon bingo card? Probably not unless you frequent the rumor Reddits, but yep, it’s happening. Blizzard announced that the fifth installment of the mainline of the franchise will roll out in 2029, and the premise is that we’ll be fighting our way through a world where Diablo has actually won. And you thought this was gonna be fantasy!
“Diablo’s next era begins with Diablo® V, launching in Spring 2029. Sanctuary has fallen, and Diablo has won. Players must confront the question at the heart of this new chapter: what must you become when the world has already fallen?”
Diablo IV got a bunch of good news too: September 15th will see the release of Season of Hell’s Legacy and the return of Deckard Cain, alongside the launch of D4 on the Switch 2. Where my Amazon fans at? Yep, she’s coming to the game in the first half of next year too, along with the javelin, finally.
“Diablo IV: Season of Hell’s Legacy begins September 15, bringing the franchise’s 30-year legacy into the game with the return of the Prime Evils and Deckard Cain, alongside rewards and gear inspired by every era of Diablo. The legendary Amazon arrives in the first half of 2027 in Diablo IV’s first class pack, wielding her iconic bow alongside the javelin. The Diablo IV: Age of Hatred Collection arrives on Nintendo Switch™ 2 on September 15, offering cross-platform play, cross-progression, and an evolving endgame wherever players choose to play.”
