Yep, we got another survivalbox that’s all about airships and floating islands. This one, however, appears to be a bit more grounded in a sci-fi reality than anything else, so it’s perhaps a little less cozy than other games in this space. This is Atmosfar, a new game from developer Apog Labs and publisher Shueisha Games that kicked off its early access development earlier this week.
“Take off for an aerial odyssey high among the clouds of a remote alien planet in Atmosfar, a sky-high, sci-fi survival adventure. Soar the horizons of a distant alien world as a solo adventurer or with friends in 2-4 player online co-op, piloting a fleet of flying vessels on a journey to uncover the fate of humanity’s final outpost.”
All the trademarks of the survivalbox appear present, including scavenging for resources, building and maintaining a flying base, and exploring the alien world of Tycos and its wide assortment of biomes. The devs state that the early access title is going to have bugs and rough spots that need to be smoothed out, but also seeks player feedback from both the early access build and through an experimental branch that’s also available.
Feedback certainly is being shared in the game’s Steam reviews, which currently sit at “mixed” with complaints of performance problems, bugs, and awful-feeling flight controls, though others are lauding the game’s relaxed vibe and actually like the way flight feels in the game. Bear in mind that many of the reviews — particularly the negative ones — are showing just about one to two hours’ worth of play time, and as always spend your money wisely in any early access game, but you can take a look for yourself in the trailer below.
