With its Server Slam set for next week, Bungie’s Marathon is doing the next best thing to garner interest: Releasing new gameplay. Following the launch trailer, two more videos of vastly differing natures are available.

The first is “DEATH AWAITS” – not the most subtle, but still fitting. It highlights the various ways that players can mete out – and meet – death on Tau Ceti IV. Maybe you’ll be the Assassin who sneaks up on enemies to stab them in the back. Perhaps you’ll be crawling on the ground, begging for mercy, only to be coldly executed. Life as a Runner can be rough, especially when other enemy types such as alien creatures are crawling about.

The second is a lot more intriguing, since it focuses on a duo squad and two Rooks working together. Rook functions as more of a Scavenger for some risk-free looting, but that doesn’t mean you can’t temporarily align with them. There’s also some notable PvE information, like how enemy Commanders can drop Gold items.

Also, proximity chat becomes quieter as you move farther apart, which means that splitting up may not always be the right play. See the Assassin and how ably it picks off any stragglers.

Marathon’s Server Slam will be available from February 26th to March 2nd. It includes two maps and the initial Contracts for five of the six Factions. For more details on Season 1 and its content, head here.
