Remedy Entertainment Appoints Jean-Charles Gaudechon As Its New CEO

After a difficult time with FBC: Firebreak last year, and CEO Tero Virtala’s exit from his role at the company, Remedy Entertainment has finally zeroed in on a new leader. Jean-Charles Gaudechon takes over the reins from the interim CEO and co-founder, Markus Mäki.

The Control and Alan Wake developer is poised to put 2025 in its rear view mirror and focus on its existing projects, moving its resources away from Firebreak to focus on Max Payne 1 and 2 Remake alongside the release of Control Resonant. Gaudechon’s extensive experience in senior leadership roles is sure to be a blessing to the studio, providing a steady, safe pair of hands at the helm during this critical time.

On his appointment, Gaudechon expressed his optimism for Remedy’s prospects and his respect for all that the studio has achieved so far, advocating for a player-focused approach to its upcoming projects as the way to go. “My commitment is to protect what makes it special, deliver exceptional games, and scale Remedy in a way that builds lasting value. Remedy has the voice and the ambition to be a pillar of the industry’s future.”

Chairman of the Board Henri Osterlund expressed delight at Gaudechon’s appointment, highlighting the studio’s plans for expansion under his capable leadership. “Under JC’s leadership, we are well-positioned to significantly accelerate growth, guide Remedy towards greater independence through self-publishing, and deliver sustained value to our players, partners, and shareholders.”

Gaudechon’s appointment comes at a time when Remedy has more than just the above – there’s also a new unannounced project and even a few live-action adaptations of its titles with Annapurna Studios in the works. However, his experience with EA and CCP Games is sure to hold him in good standing as he charts a course into the future and beyond for Remedy.
