Welcome back to another roundup of MMOs and MMO-adjacent multiplayer games you’ve never heard of! For the most part, we’re falling into the more widely accepted definition of MMO in this collection, though someone somewhere will still be mad at the categorization regardless. You just can’t win unless you ride a water slide.

Zeverland

We begin with Zeverland, a co-op survival crafting MMO from the indie team at Quantum Quirks. This in-development title leans heavily on players using common sense in the opening throes of a (weirdly adorable-looking) zombie apocalypse, with all of the crafting and housing mechanics one might expect. The game held a pre-alpha test in late June but shut it down a couple of weeks later due to myriad technical problems that the studio resolves to address.

Blossom & Decay

Next we have Blossom & Decay, a browser-based “open world socio-economic simulation” MMO by Konspiracy Games with ARPG combat, a seamless procedurally-generated open world, and ways for players to drive the sandbox’s narrative, all done in a 2-D sprite style. You might recall we first reported on this in 2018 and it looks as if development is still moving along, albeit without any clear timeline.

Astral Frontier Online

Lastly, we have yet another solo dev attempting to put together their own MMORPG to add to your mental list. Astral Frontier Online, an in-progress MMORPG being cobbled together with Unity assets and SpacetimeDB’s backend, seeks to put together a world where player characters can summon allies known as Asters. The title lists itself as in an alpha state, and a dev blog on Reddit notes work on inventory, a building system, and a card system to power up Asters.
