With Phoenix Cyclops joining the roster of Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls as its first DLC character, Arc System Works has released a new Character Guide video, detailing his abilities. Check it out below.

It begins with Optic Blast, a simple beam attack that can be charged for more damage, bounce off the floor, and even evade projectiles. This is also one way to gain Solar Shards and trigger Dark Phoenix form, enhancing attacks with Surging Flame, letting you move in a specific direction after it connects (and takes some health). So when using other skills like Heat Wave, Tactical Strike, and Phoenix Dive, it opens up a lot of potential for mix-ups.

However, you need to decide carefully when to use it because Solar Shards can’t be garnered for the rest of the round after the transformation ends. Afterwards, Cyclops enters the Ashen State, possessing many of the same abilities as his default state.

As for his Ultimate Skill, Dark Ascension, it can change depending on these conditions. If used after collecting all the Solar Shards, he’ll transform into Dark Phoenix; without them, he’ll immediately attack and transition into the Ashen state. Use it when he’s already Dark Phoenix, and you’ll deal far more damage.

Phoenix Cyclops arrives on November 2nd for Year 1 Character and Stage Pass holders. He’s followed by Thor (Jane Foster), Venom and Jubilee.
