The back end of 2026 is absolutely stacked when it comes to excellent video games, and one of the standouts is Onimusha: Way of the Sword. This upcoming Capcom game is an action-adventure RPG set in ancient Kyoto, Japan, where you play as a samurai wielding a gauntlet that allows you to slay Genma, mysterious monstrosities that have risen from the underworld.

Initially scheduled to come out on Sept. 25, its release date has been moved forward to Friday, Sept. 4. In an X post, the official game’s account explained that what was previously known as the pre-order bonus will now become an “early adopted bonus,” available on all consoles until Sept. 24 at 11:59 p.m. local time, or until 4:59 p.m. PDT on Steam and Epic Games Store. This bonus includes the lion dog charm and sealed curse sword appearance cosmetics for the standard edition, while the deluxe and premium deluxe also come with a white monkey charm and white lion sword appearance.

You can also get a taste of Onimusha: Way of the Sword now, as a demo is available on PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC (both Steam and Epic). According to a news release, the demo contains a slice of the game’s “satisfying action,” alongside an early section of the game. Playing the demo will also reward you with a kubi akari charm when the full game is released.

This release date change means Onimusha: Way of the Sword now launches just one day after The Blood of Dawnwalker, another highly anticipated RPG. However, it means it doesn’t clash with Silent Hill: Townfall or Control Resonant anymore, and it also gives players a little more time to finish it before Grand Theft Auto 6 is released in November.
