If you love Minecraft, this new Thermaltake CPU cooler is absolutely perfect for you

If you’re looking for the perfect finishing touch for your Minecraft or Portal-dedicated PC, this Thermaltake Minecube 360 Ultra ARGB Sync CPU cooler has to be it. This all-in-one (AIO) liquid cooler follows the trend of adding a display to the CPU pump/waterblock but here, instead of just one display, you get four arranged into a perfect cube (trust me, the math works out on that).

This means that with Thermaltake’s latest, not only are you equipping your PC with what should be one of the best CPU coolers around – it is a powerful 360mm AIO cooler, after all – but you can display your choice of cube-appropriate imagery right in the center of your PC. For Minecraft fans, you could simply depict a calming grass block or add a little tension with some TNT, while Portal fans can rest easy with their Weighted Companion Cube always by their side. I suppose you could even make it all black and call it a Steam Machine dedication.

So how do four LCD displays make a cube? Well, the back face of the cube is where it sits against the CPU, so that one’s blank, while one other face is also devoid of a display too. In theory, you could orient this block in a variety of directions, but in practice, most of the time you’ll have the block mounted with the blank face facing down towards your graphics card.

Each display is a 3.95-inch square with a resolution of 720 x 720, allowing for some impressively sharp-looking images. Thermaltake has made its own software for programming the display, imaginatively called TT LCD Screen Software, and it’s compatible with both image and video formats, specifically JPG, PNG, GIF, MP4, MOV, and AVI.

Actually setting up all the images or animations could be quite a task, as you’ll need to download or create an image for each face, using a texture pattern such as the one below. However, once you’ve got the hang of it, you should be able to create some really cool imagery. Plus, Thermaltake has provided a bunch of its own animations for you to try, so you won’t have to mess around doing it yourself just to get up and running.

As well as your choice of image or video, the displays can also show system information, again via the TT LCD Screen Software. From memory usage to hard drive space or CPU temperature, it can give you a whole host of data in whatever orientation you like.

As for the actual cooler part of the Minecube 360 Ultra ARGB Sync AIO Liquid Cooler, it uses a solid copper base and, as well as the LCD displays, the pump block also houses a small fan for keeping air flowing over your motherboard’s memory and VRMs.

A slim 27mm-thick, 360mm-long radiator comes backed with three 120mm Swafan EX ARGB Sync fans. These fans daisy-chain together via metal contacts, meaning only a single cable is required to connect and control all three fans and their dazzling RGB lighting. If you want to mount the radiator in the back plain of your case, you can also swap the orientation of the fan blades by simply popping them off and replacing them with the included reverse fan blades.

As you might expect for such a feature-packed cooler, the Thermaltake Minecube 360 Ultra ARGB Sync AIO Liquid Cooler doesn’t come cheap. With an MSRP of… wait for it… $449, it’s one of the most expensive coolers we’ve ever encountered. For comparison, it’s single-screen Thermaltake TH360 V2 Ultra is only $142 right now. Any chance of a Black Friday deal already, Thermaltake?
