Gothic 1 Remake Gets Photo Mode, Marvin Mode in Latest Update

Developer Alkimia has released the first feature update for Gothic 1 Remake following its release earlier this year. The update brings in a host of changes and refinements, and is headlined by the addition of a Photo Mode, giving players all the tools they might need to capture some striking screenshots from throughout the game.

The update also brings Marvin Mode – essentially an official cheat mode that gives players options to tinker around with many of the game’s settings, which could range from opening a difficult-to-pick lock to teleporting around and spawning items, and even spawning in characters or creatures. Players can access Marvin Mode by hitting Esc and typing “MARVIN” before hitting Esc again. It can be disabled by hitting Esc and typing “42”.

As for other changes brought in by the update, players can now access more customization options for the Brotherhood through a member of the Swamp camp, and it’s now easier to pass in-game time at a quicker pace by simply using the Wait feature when sitting on a bench. When it comes to fixes, plenty of refinements have been brought in, cleaning up dodgy interactions with golem corpses in chapter 4, for example. For more details, take a look at the full patch notes below.

Alkimia had announced the Photo Mode update all the way back in August. At the time, the company also thanked players for their support for the remake, and even confirmed that its next project will be revealed in 2027.

Gothic 1 Remake is available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. For more details, take a look at our review. And while you’re at it, check out our thoughts on why it has sold so well despite its flaws.
