Following up on the “The Saga Continues” animated trailer from earlier this week, SNK Corporation has now revealed more details about its content plans for Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, and in the process, has announced its third season. The trailer, which you can check out below, confirms that Season 3 will bring six new characters to the fighting game, including Rick Strowd, Duck King, Kim Kaphwan, and Laocorn Gaudeamus.

The trailer also reveals the release schedule for these characters. Rick Strowd will be out later this month (on July 23rd), followed by Duck King in August. September will see the release of Kim Kaphwan, and November will feature Laocorn Gaudeamus. Interestingly, two of the slots in the monthly release schedules have been left as mysteries – October and December. More details about these two secret characters will likely be revealed over the coming months.

The new trailer is also a treat for long-time fans of the Fatal Fury franchise, since each one of the characters was introduced alongside a collage of their 2D sprites from older fighting games, showcasing how their visual styles have evolved over the years.

Alongside revealing Season 3 details, SNK has also announced a new Revenge Edition release of Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves. Priced at $49.99, it will include all three season passes for the fighting game, with characters like Joe Higashi, Kenshiro, and Duck King all being available.

SNK has also announced a major change to its DLC characters. Roster additions that were previously exclusive to their respective Season Passes are now available for individual purchase. This means that if you’re a Fist of the North Star fan, you won’t have to buy the entirety of the Season 2 pass to get access to Kenshiro, for example.

The overarching theme of Season 3 has been dubbed “Destined for Revenge”, replacing Season 2’s “Legends Unleashed”. Keeping in line with this, all of the characters in Season 3 will have stories revolving around their quest for revenge leading them to the mean streets of South Town.

The stories of all of these characters will likely get expanded through the single-player modes available in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, like Arcade mode and Episodes of South Town. Since all of these are returning members of the Fatal Fury roster, we will also likely get to see some fun interactions between them and the other characters, including guests like Chun-Li and Kenshiro.

Duck King, Kim Kaphwan, Rick Strowd, and Laocorn Gaudeamus were previously teased in the animated “The Saga Continues” trailer, which showed off how these characters were getting ready to join the roster. Along with this, the animated short also celebrated the game’s Season 2 characters, like Fist of the North Star protagonist Kenshiro.

Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves is available on PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. For more on how the fighting game evolved since its release in April last year, check out our review from back when it first came out, where we gave it a score of 7 out of 10 thanks to meaningful gameplay depth with the REV System, among other things.
