No, that’s not a typo: This game really is called Fantasy Online 2, and you’re unlikely to mistake it for Phantasy Star Online 2 in any case because this one is a pixel MMORPG through and through.
Studio Pixel Games LLC, led by the OG dev for Fantasy Online itself, calls this a sequel to that earlier game, and right now it’s in early access (beta 4, apparently). On Steam, it boasts pixel art, character customization, crafting, collections, banking, quests, guilds, grouping, and a “thriving player economy.” Most recently, the game opened its King’s Keep patch with a new faction and questline.
Worth noting is that funding appears to be through Patreon, where the dev posted previews and roadmaps as the game made its way through beta. The rest of the year sees the addition of fishing, multiple events, updates to zones, flying mounts, and work on a large-scale expansion. “I hope you’re not scared of clowns,” the post warns. That expansion is called Legends of the Sky.

Also worth noting is that the game’s Steam reviews are “very positive” but contain complaints about an apparently toxic community, grind, and in-game cash shop. The game is $10 on Steam, though you can at least try it out on Android or in-browser on the official site for free.
