Remember when FromSoftware took down servers for its Dark Souls games, and uncertainty reigned over whether they would ever return? It’s happened again, this time for Dark Souls 2 and Dark Souls 3.
This is apparently due to a “server issue” which affects all platforms. The developer said it will update players on “server restoration time” once it has more “information.” At the very least, this is temporary, though one’s interpretation may vary. Either way, if you’ve been having a blast in co-op for either title, you’ll need to postpone those playthroughs until the foreseeable future.
Fortunately, the outage hasn’t affected Elden Ring, FromSoftware’s most recent Souls-like title. If you haven’t given it a go (and you really should), check out our reviews of the base game and Shadow of the Erdtree expansion to learn more. Elden Ring Nightreign, built for three-player co-op, is also available, though it offers more of a rogue-lite structure. You can learn more about it and its DLC, The Forsaken Hollows.
Either title might help pass the time for The Duskbloods, especially since it was delayed from 2026 to 2027 to incorporate feedback from the recent closed beta. A more definitive release window has yet to be announced, and it’s unknown whether there will be another beta, but stay tuned for updates.
