The Game Developers Association of the Philippines has launched Alon, a distribution platform intended to bring games made by Filipino studios into one catalog for international audiences. The initiative was unveiled at the Philippine Pavilion during Gamescom Asia in Bangkok.

Alon was developed by GDAP with Xsolla and the Department of Trade and Industry’s Export Management Bureau. The platform is designed as a showcase and distribution channel rather than a replacement for established PC marketplaces. Filipino developers can continue selling their games through Steam, Itch.io and other storefronts while also using Alon to present their work in one place.

A shared catalog for Filipino games

The nonexclusive structure gives studios a way to maintain their existing storefront presence while joining a directory focused on games from the Philippines. GDAP and its partners can use that catalog when presenting local projects to international publishers, investors and diplomatic events.

The platform addresses a coordination problem for an industry whose games may otherwise be presented separately across different services and events. A centralized collection allows the association and its government partners to highlight Filipino projects without organizing a new call for participants each time they appear at an international trade show or diplomatic gathering.

  • Platform model: Nonexclusive, allowing developers to keep selling through Steam, Itch.io and other storefronts.
  • Developer fee: 15% of platform sales, according to the launch details.
  • Technical services: Xsolla manages the platform’s infrastructure and payment processing.

Promotion and payments

Alon’s fee is described as half the standard rate charged by major storefronts. The initiative does not rely on direct government funding. Instead, its promotional support comes through existing channels, including Philippine Pavilions at international gaming trade shows and diplomatic events organized by the Department of Foreign Affairs.

Xsolla provides the underlying commerce services, including support for global digital wallets, credit cards and key generation. That arrangement places payment processing and technical infrastructure with a company already operating in the game commerce sector while GDAP and its partners focus on showcasing Filipino developers and their projects.

The launch gives independent studios in the Philippines an additional route to reach publishers, investors and players without requiring them to leave the storefronts where their games are already sold. Alon’s initial role is therefore both commercial and promotional: It collects Filipino-made games in a dedicated catalog while allowing developers to retain distribution across other services.
