Ready or Not update 1.5 adds a transformative mission editor - A police SWAT member in protective gear.

A new Ready or Not update gives you more granular control over the tactical FPS game’s gameplay with the first introduction of a mission editor tool. Void Interactive’s SWAT team simulator is a brutal, uncompromising beast that forces you to check every corner and coordinate your team if you want to all make it out alive. This latest patch gives you more freedom to choose exactly how that challenge is meted out, starting with a focus on NPC behaviors – and it also comes with a triple pack of free weapon styles.

Ready or Not update 1.5 incorporates the “initial introductory launch” of the mission editor, which Void Interactive says will continue to be expanded and improved with future patches. It can be used in both singleplayer and friends-only multiplayer lobbies, and comes with a suite of ‘basic’ and ‘advanced’ toggles for you to toy around with. To start with, you can adjust the likes of player health, the bandage limit, whether friendly fire is enabled and how harsh the penalty is, and the damage cap on how hard a single hit can land.

Had enough of being blown up by door traps in the last seconds of a mission? You can adjust these, both in total count and types. You’re also able to tweak the percentage of doors that can start locked or open, along with the multiplier on shielded melee damage. By far the biggest list of toggles comes under the ‘AI’ tab, however, which covers all of the various computer-controlled NPCs including SWAT members, suspects, and civilians.

You’re able to change basics such as health, accuracy, fire rate, sight range, reaction times, and morale, and can select from a range of suspect and civilian archetypes. Suspects could be sneaky, cowardly, irrational, professional, twitchy, or tactical, while civilians can be set as unaware, noncompliant, hostages, prisoners, and so on. You can toggle whether civilians can be found roaming, or if they can be equipped with explosive vests.

You can also swap out the preferred primary and secondary weapons that suspects will use, and they get by far the most unique modifiers to fiddle with. You can independently alter how long they’re disabled when stunned, their chance to hesitate, fake surrender, or play dead, how perceptive they are, and even whether their accuracy is impacted when they take a hostage. Once you’re happy with your creation, you can copy a code to share it with other players across all platforms.

Ready or Not patch 1.5 is out now. Alongside the mission editor and a handful of bug fixes, it also includes a free ‘triple weapon pack’ of cosmetic styles, which are alternative versions of the triple pack that was released at the time of the console launch. These are the ‘Hard Chrome’ MK-V pistol, ‘Flat Dark earth’ 590M shotgun, and ‘LSPD Blue’ M32A1 rotary grenade launcher. If you already have those original versions, you’ll get access to both.
