Gunman Contracts, a John Wick-style first-person shooter that started as a mod for Half-Life: Alyx, launches in Early Access on September 10 on Steam.
We normally do not traffic in copium, but this is a curious bit of news. At the August VR Games Showcase, developer ANB_Seth’s mod-turned-standalone title Gunman Contracts announced it would launch on Steam as a hybrid title (supporting VR and non-VR gameplay) “alongside Steam Frame” in 2026.

Gunman Contracts Stand Alone, the action-movie inspired shooter, will launch in Early Access alongside Steam Frame’s eventual release.
Due to that promise, the game has since been closely monitored by a segment of the gaming community tracking any possible Steam Frame news. Earlier today, the Steam listing was updated with a release date of September 10. Valve itself has not, at the time of this article, officially confirmed a release date for its new headset. The developer made a brief statement with the release date announcement on Reddit:
Note: While the initial plan was to launch the same day as Steam Frame, we ultimately decided to choose our own launch timing. But we still have full trust that Steam Frame will be coming this Summer, as this is Valve’s last standing statement. So we wanted to pick a date that will make sure that Gunman Contracts – Stand Alone will be available close to any possible Steam Frame Summer-release.
In Gunman Contracts, you play as a professional hitman working for a mysterious order that has vowed to dispense justice to the criminal underworld. The Early Access launch will include three contracts, with three more reportedly already in development.
