Ubisoft promised big improvements to the underwater sections in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, especially the ability to dive anywhere. Thanks to new gameplay by IGN, we can see the results, and they’re truly incredible.

First up is Edward simply diving underwater to spot some treasure chests, though you can also float in place and admire the scenery, including the gorgeously rendered jellyfish. A later section sees him stripping most of his clothes and searching for medicines as part of a quest. He explores a wreck, opening a chest and makes to exit, but a shark suddenly catches his scent.

What follows is a sequence in which you need to dodge its attacks. Don’t worry if the timing looks challenging – there’s a setting to auto-complete and quick-time events as part of the accessibility settings. Of course, there are barrels with air if you want to stay underwater longer, but you can also enable unlimited oxygen.

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced launches on July 9th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC, and continues to look amazing. Head here for even more gameplay, showcasing the dynamic weather quality courtesy of Atmos and Edward’s parkour skills. You can also check out our feature for more details.
