ARC Raiders Studio Announces “Signficant Changes” to Curb Cheats and Exploits

ARC Raiders has recently seen an influx of hackers and cheaters making use of in-game exploits to gain advantages over other players. While many players have been criticising this, developer Embark Studios has announced in a new post on its official Discord server (via GamesRadar) that it will be implementing changes to its cheat detection rulesets. These changes have been described by the studio as being “significant”, and will enable it to detect, identify and remove cheaters at a more consistent rate.

Those playing ARC Raiders while also livestreaming it on services like Twitch can also breathe a sigh of relief, as the studio has noted that it will introduce new tools that can be used to mitigate stream sniping. Opposing players that notice that they’re up against someone playing on a live stream won’t quite have the advantage they used to by just having the stream open on the side to figure out what you are doing.

“We’ve seen the discussion around the topic of cheaters in ARC Raiders. Please know that we are taking this issue very seriously and are listening to, and acting on your feedback,” said the studio on Discord.

“Over the next few weeks, we are implementing significant changes to our rulesets and deploying new detection mechanisms to identify and remove cheaters. This includes updating our Anti-Cheat systems for improved detection and bans, as well as applying client-side fixes specifically addressing the ‘out of map’ glitch. Furthermore, we are introducing tools for streamers to help mitigate stream sniping.”

Some of the bigger complaints about the state of ARC Raiders thanks to cheaters and hackers came from popular streamer Shroud, known for his focus on multiplayer shooters. During a live stream, he said, “Embark has 0 control over their game, if there’s no meaningful change in the next week or 2, what’s the point in f***ing playing it’s a waste of time.”

While it might be facing issues for now, Embark Studios has been quite vocal about wanting to keep ARC Raiders going for as long as it possibly can. Back in December, art director Robert Sammelin had spoken about the studio’s 10-year plan for the game, and how it revolves around making sure that players always have something new to experience thanks to the game evolving over time.

“I think games like this will evolve depending on community behaviours, feedback, and how we pick out the things we see people engage really well with,” said Sammelin along with the studio itself. “But also throw things into the mix that sort of afford new challenges and opportunities within the game.”

“I think there’s a wide range of routes that we can take with this, and time will tell how we sort of dig into it. But we for sure have a pretty long-standing plan of where we want to take it.”

ARC Raiders has been an incredibly successful game since its October 2025 release. As caught by a report from earlier this month, the PvPvE extraction shooter even managed to top sales charts on Steam for the final week of 2025. Along with this, it was also able to retain more concurrent players on PC than Battlefield 6.

ARC Raiders is available on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Check out our review for more details.
