Cue the music, Daevas, because the second coming of the original MMORPG has arrived after about 17 years. Aion 2 has made its full free-to-play global release today, bringing the sequel in full to PC players on Steam and Purple, regardless of whether they bought a founder’s pack or not.
“Aion 2 is built on freedom of movement and flight, showcasing a best-in-class flying experience packed with spectacular aerial combat and environmental traversal. Aion 2 features fast-paced combat that blends precision, timing, and positioning with [a] traditional tab-targeting offering.”
NCsoft touts the wide assortment of content on offer from the launch, including multiple dungeons, 10-player raids, and a host of PvP activities that scale from 1v1, 4v4, or realm vs. realm, as well as its more opened flight. There has also been a wealth of additional information for the release, including a launch server list and a multi-day login event. Additionally, those who happened to have bought one of those founder’s packs will soon have their cosmetics unlocked account-wide.
To celebrate the release, NCsoft has a video that illustrates the road to global release. It’s generally pretty fluffy, as one might expect, but then again this is a new MMORPG release from the company, so we can probably just let them have this for the time being. If you’re leaping in (or flying in as the case may be), good luck and have fun!
