After promising that early access would end this year for Path of Exile 2, Grinding Gear Games revealed a date: December 11th. That applies to all platforms, and while that’s big enough news on its own, it also showcased a new class and the long-awaited reveal of swords.
Swords, in case you didn’t know, have been heavily requested by the community since forever – so much so that the discussion completely overrode the recent endgame additions. Well, they’re finally here, both to dual-wield and pair with a shield, and GGG has added several new skills to boot.
One of them involves plunging the blade into the ground, resulting in cracks that splinter out and damage foes. And yes, Cyclone makes its long-awaited debut in the sequel at last, looking as ridiculous as ever.
As for the new class, it appears to be the Duelist, particularly the Slayer class. Judging from the trailer’s opening, Gladiator should also be returning. The question now is whether Champion will join the roster or the developer debuts something else. There’s plenty of time to find out, especially with a new GGG Live set for August 27th.
Path of Exile 2 is available for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. Check out our review of the early access version here.
