It’s been a busy year for Helldivers 2, what with the Battle for Cyberstan update and the addition of new biomes and enemy variants alongside other changes and the usual cycle of regular maintenance patches. That said, there’s been some rumbling from players about Arrowhead’s priorities lately, and it’s followed up with a new transmission from Super Earth, outlining upcoming plans.
“We’ve been following your feedback over the past few days and seeing the conversations across the Helldivers 2 community. Helldivers 2 matters to all of us, and we want to be clearer about what we’re working on and what’s coming next.”
Meta-progression and the Galactic War are set to take things up a notch, with revised progression rewards and systems, new multi-week “Campaigns”, and action-based outcomes that can have you thinking carefully about your choices in the game. It’s all aimed at making rewards more meaningful and making the entire game feel more reactive to what players do with it.
The team’s also going to be more frequent with updates, and is emphatic about getting better patch notes across to you after some complaints about missing additions. Open beta testing is being mulled over, with the team weighing its options and devising a strategy that gets players to provide feedback on balancing changes without spoiling upcoming content for the game.
If that wasn’t enough, new vehicles will be obtainable through gameplay in “the future”, and Arrowhead is “actively working” on new red Stratagems, further evolving ships, and expanding the player cap up to level 150 “and beyond.”
