Welcome back to another roundup of MMOs and MMO-adjacent multiplayer games you’ve never heard of! We hope you’ve got your bibs on and your crab leg-crackin’ rocks on hand because this one’s a pretty varied seafood boil of stuff today.
Nova Era: Atom
First on the list is Nova Era: Atom, a sci-fi MMORPG from developer Guangzhou Xingjie Network Technology Co., Ltd. Described as a blend of sci-fantasy and Chinese mythology, the game emphasizes exploration, gathering and crafting, and evolving players’ spaceships across procedurally-generated worlds. The game held its first alpha test last month and can be wishlisted on Steam. [Thanks, Kinya!]
Tyr
Next we have Tyr, a developing multiplayer tank battler from Stoke Games that emphasizes the use of proper positioning and strategy over twitch combat skills. Tanks come with their own unique skill trees that can be unlocked to further customize their gameplay in more methodical team-based battles. Playtests have been ongoing, with more likely to come.
Atre: Dominance Wars
Speaking of strategic games, our last title, Atre: Dominance Wars from Ironward Games, also leans heavily on turn-based and careful planning over quick reflexes. Players take the role of a powerful sorcerer that’s attempting to learn spells and ascend to godhood, all while commanding units, managing an empire, and conquering land before its overtaken by an event called the Merge. A demo is available now and release is planned for Q2 of this year.
