Dino Crisis, Dino Crisis 2 Are Now Available on Steam, Priced at $9.99 Each

While Capcom hasn’t announced any brand new Dino Crisis projects being in the works, the company does seem keen on preserving the older titles in the franchise. The first two Dino Crisis games are now available on Steam after previously only being available through GOG for a year as part of the latter’s preservation efforts.

According to Capcom, no changes have been made to the Dino Crisis and Dino Crisis 2 experiences aside from improved compatibility with modern operating systems and controllers. Both titles are priced at $9.99 each, and are currently available at an introductory 50 percent discount. All of the improvements made to both games are largely on the technical side of things, like using a new DirectX game renderer, and more video options, like V-Sync control, and anti-aliasing, among many other things.

Dino Crisis – originally released in 1999 – was a way for Capcom to make further use of the engine it had already created for the first two Resident Evil games. Rather than focusing on zombies, however, Dino Crisis instead presented dinosaurs as the main threat. The survival horror title revolves around Regina, who is on a covert operation to infiltrate a facility that has seemingly been overrun by dinosaurs.

The sequel, Dino Crisis 2, was released in 2000 and took the story in a new direction by going back in time to the Cretaceous Period. Once more featuring Regina, the action and environment design saw several improvements over its predecessor.

The GOG versions of both Dino Crisis games, released in January last year, featured more enhancements, including localization options and an Easy difficulty mode.

Interestingly, a rumor from August 2025 indicated that Capcom had been looking at ways to bring Dino Crisis back. However, the company has reportedly cancelled two projects in the franchise over the years. The report comes courtesy of notable leaker AestheticGamer, who noted that the company has still been trying to figure out what to do with Dino Crisis.

“I hope Capcom eventually figures out what they want to do with Dino Crisis,” posted AestheticGamer on social media. “For the record and I don’t believe this is new info, but there has been a couple attempts in the last decade to remake Dino Crisis, the first by Capcom Vancouver before they were shut down (still have some of the leaked materials for that on my hard drive actually), the second a few years ago but just wasn’t turning out good so it got scrapped. I hope they one day figure out how they want to go forward with Dino Crisis and it’s able to pass prototyping stages.”

It is worth noting that, while Capcom had continued to develop quite a few Resident Evil games over the years, including the upcoming Resident Evil Requiem, the Dino Crisis franchise has largely been left behind. The last release in the series was Dino Crisis 3, released all the way back in 2003. Interestingly, it is only available on the original Xbox, and hasn’t been ported to any other platforms since then.
