The Meta Quest 3 is pretty great, but if you’re not really looking to spend that sort of money on a VR headset, then you may want to consider the Meta Quest 3S, which sits somewhere between the Quest 2 and the Quest 3. For example, it runs the Quest 3’s Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2, so you get a lot of performance, but you get the older Fresnel lenses that run at a 1,832 × 1,920 resolution, which still isn’t too bad. While the HTC VIVE Pro 2 is an ever so slightly older VR headset, it’s a solid option if you don’t want to go with the Quest. It has a combined 4896 x 2448 resolution, with a very respectable 120-degree field of view, and a very solid 90Hz refresh rate, which helps a lot with things like dizziness. The hand tracking is also pretty excellent, probably as good if not better than the Quest 2 or 3, and you have several ways you can wear the headset depending on how you want to use it. You see, much like the Quest, it can run in standalone mode that doesn’t require a connection to a PC, although the option for apps is much smaller, and the HTC VIVE Pro 2 really is made more for connecting with a PC.
