Tired of the feeling that MMOs are holding your hand a little too much — and maybe even powdering your butt so that you don’t chafe? Then you’re a prime candidate for Swordeye, an upcoming game that bills itself as a “hardcore MMO slasher with brutal directional combat.”
Developed by ALX Theory and heading our way in 2026, Swordeye focuses on expansive dungeon crawls where players compete to work their way up a dangerous tower. It won’t be easy, with traps, enemies, and challenges aplenty. The next playtest for the title is scheduled to arrive on March 26th through the 31st with the new Othari raid, proximity voice chat, and a lot of other improvements.
“Dive into brutal, skill‑based combat in this hardcore MMO where your skill with your blade is the only thing standing between you and a quick death,” sayeth ye olde description. “Compete to climb an expansive, interconnected, and persistent tower overflowing with monsters, traps, and treasure. Swordeye combines a fast-paced directional combat system that includes ripostes, feints, parries, kicks, and combos with persistent massive multiplayer dungeons, loot, abilities, and a skill tree.”
