Teamfight Tactics Set 16, also known as Lore and Legends, is going live on Wednesday, Dec. 3 with patch 16.1.
Set 16 is based around the regions of Runeterra and the legends that you may find there. You’ll be able to harness the power of the Void, plunder with Bilgewater, build an invention with Piltover, and much more. This set also boasts the largest roster you’ve ever seen, with 100 champions to choose from, but not all of them are available at the start of every game. Instead, you’ll need to unlock 40 champions by completing objectives throughout your game.
Here’s when Teamfight Tactics Set 16 releases in your time zone and what to expect in the new set.
What time does TFT Set 16 release in your time zone?
Teamfight Tactics Set 16 will go live on Wednesday, Dec. 3 on your local server. This does mean that the Oceania server will be receiving the patch first, while the North America servers will have to wait a little longer, but if you truly cannot wait, you’re free to make an Oceania account and play with a ping disadvantage.
Below, we’ve listed the expected release time for the NA, EUW, EUNE, and OCE servers, based off of the release time of previous sets and League of Legends‘ update cadence:
- NA — 3 a.m. PST/6 a.m. EST for North America
- EUW — 5 a.m. GMT/6 a.m. CET for the U.K. and western Europe
- EUNE — 4 a.m. EET for eastern Europe
- OCE — 7 a.m. AEDT for the east coast of Australia
However, the maintenance period can vary from time to time, so the servers could be up before or later than the times listed above.
What to expect from TFT Set 16
With every new TFT set, comes a new thematic, units, traits and mechanics. For Set 16, Teamfight Tactics will go back to the basics, and utilize the regions of Runeterra. If you’re familiar with League of Legends lore, you’ll be right at home as you can field a team of Yordles, pirates from Bilgewater, mythical Targons, and much more.
Set 16’s main mechanic is Unlocks. With a roster of 100 units, it might get pretty tough to find the champions you’re looking for. To combat that, you can unlock 40 of the champions in each game by completing a variety of objectives. For example, to unlock Bard, you must reroll at least four times before the Stage 2 carousel. It’s also important to know that these unlocks are not permanent. They do not persist from game to game, so, if you’re looking to play Bard every game, you’ll need to reroll four times before the Stage 2 carousel every game.
Additionally, there are a few gameplay changes that you’ll need to adjust to. The most noticeable change is the amount of experience you’ll need to level to 8, 9, and 10. Rather than the XP being loaded towards the highest levels, it’s been spread out a bit across the levels:
- Level 8: 48 → 60 XP
- Level 9: 76 → 68 XP
- Level 10: 84 → 68 XP
At level 8, you’ll be more likely to find four-costs with a 30% chance and less likely to find one- and two-costs. Also, at level 9, you’ll be more likely to find five-costs with a 15% chance and less likely to find one- and two-costs.
Lastly, player damage has been adjusted in Stage 3 and 4, with base damage being increased by one in Stage 3 and decreased by one in Stage 4. This change might not seem like a major change, but if you find yourself with 30 hp at the start of Stage 4, you’ll know why.
