Starfield Improvements Were Showcased in a Closed-Door Event for Version 2.0 – Rumour

While Starfield was the first new IP created by Bethesda since The Elder Scrolls, the open-world RPG was released and passed everyone by without too much notice. Now, over two years after its release date, it looks like the company wants to bring Starfield back in a major way. Reports have started popping up of the company having held a closed-door showcase of what it referred to as Starfield “2.0”. This report first popped up thanks to a Starfield fan account—Starfield News—which noted that this major update would come to the game “soon”.

Social media user JuiceHead claims to have attended this showcase of Starfield 2.0, and said that it involved Bethesda giving those in attendance a look at the future planned content for the RPG. In another post, the user also noted that each attendee may have signed a different NDA, but that they weren’t breaking any when they revealed this on social media.

The report of this showcase would get further corroboration from YouTube content creator Luke Stephens, who took to social media to discuss what he had discovered about it. Confirming that the event happened, he noted that the general response from those who were there had noted that Starfield players should “temper expectations”, and that this “2.0” update for Starfield won’t be as major of a revamp to the game as Cyberpunk 2077 saw with its own 2.0 update.

“I’ve had a few people reach out who claim to have either been present at the event or helped put it on,” said Stephens. “They are consistent in the following ways: Temper expectations. Things are being improved but from what I’m hearing this probably isn’t a Cyberpunk 2.0 scale update.”

“[Bethesda Game Studios] do have a number of improvements coming that are specifically aimed at the most common complaints like load screens (these have been data mined too), but you should not expect them to have magically changed what the game is.”

He also went on to note that Bethesda has seemingly pushed back its launch window for the next Starfield DLC. Despite this, however, he wrote that “improvements are improvements and they deserve credit for making the game better. But we will have to see what the update is actually like when it drops, considering their recent track record of updates (and breaking games with them) is far from impressive.”

Bethesda had celebrated the second anniversary of Starfield back in September by teasing future content for the title through a social media post. In an Instagram reel, the company simply teased the words “Terran Armada”, which were hiding behind an image celebrating the game’s anniversary.

The DLC itself was confirmed to be in the works back in August by lead creative producer Tim Lamb. While he didn’t reveal too many details at the time, he did note that this DLC will feature “some new game systems, and a few other smaller delights.”

Starfield is available on PC and Xbox Series X/S. The title has been rumoured to come to PS5 alongside the release of its second DLC. For more details, check out our reviews of the base game and its first DLC—Shattered Space.

Regardless, improvements are improvements and they deserve credit for making the game better. But we will have to see what the update is actually like when it drops, considering their recent track record of updates (and breaking games with them) is far from impressive.

I’ve seen lots of talk about the Starfield “event” popping up all of a sudden (not really an event)

What I can say is last month Bethesda Game Studios gave I (and others) an opportunity to see some of Starfield’s future content. I can’t say more yet, but I will talk about it⌛️
