There are no shortage of rogue servers and emulators for the long-sunsetted Star Wars Galaxies, but what’s another one to add to the list? Especially since this one is relatively new by comparison? We’ve been informed of the existence of The Outer Rim, a pre-CU SWG server that chiefly hangs its hat on adding new custom content, creatures, and gear that are distinct to the server.
This rogue server just opened its doors this past July and appears to have already captured a slowly growing niche of fans through its past 10 weeks, though its home page boasts higher numbers of registered accounts and created characters since its September report. Updates have also been applied fairly regularly, adding things like world bosses, planets like Mandalore, a Force Ranking system rework, an underground cage fighting area simply known as The Pit, and additional dungeons, on top of balance changes and tweaks to classes, items, guilds, and more.
According to information provided in an email by server founder Doc, the team is now working on the creation of the planet Geonosis, which is described as “a completely new, functioning adventure planet from scratch inside SWG, with its own environment, creatures, NPCs, quest content, dungeons, encounters, loot and reasons to actually spend time there.” Other updates planned on the roadmap include new playable species, and more credit sinks, just to name a few. Assuming you’re not already entrenched in another SWG emu, perhaps this one is worth your time to investigate.
