This newly announced MMO is right up Justin’s alley. Why do we say that? Because this one is set in a world that’s being invaded by elves and he hates all things elf-y. Say hello to the grim dark fantasy world of Embers of the Uncrowned from Nexon.
“Embers of the Uncrowned is a dark fantasy MMORPG where fast-paced, satisfying isometric view combat meets brutal, gory visuals. In an epic tale drenched in human blood at the hands of elven invaders, embark on a journey to reignite the house’s last ember of hope.”
In EOTU, players play the role of an illegitimate child of House Harborwell who left to become a mercenary, only for fate to lead them back to their lost domain. The game features three classes in the form of the Spectral Blade, Executioner, and Stormbringer, each promising unique attributes and skill trees to craft a distinct combat style, while combat uses spell interrupts, dodging, and a stagger mechanic according to a Twitter post. As for the MMORPG part of the game, teams of players can join together to take on domain bosses and raids.
The devs of the game introduce themselves as “hardcore MMORPG veterans who share a deep, relentless passion for the genre” who seek the goal of “crafting an MMORPG that delivers a truly compelling and unforgettable experience.” It should be noted that the game’s Steam page does point out that some of this crafting uses AI tools, specifically for visual content creation, marketing materials, live chat translation features, and partial in-game dialogue and script localization.
More details about the game are promised soon, as well as a playable demo that will become available during June’s Steam Next Fest. Until then, the game is available for wishlisting on Steam, and a cinematic trailer can be watched below.
