The saga of Metal Gear Solid is something to behold in this day and age. Few franchises span several decades or boast such extensive world-building, and even fewer can make the leap from the Cold War espionage of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater to the future wars of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.
Not that this stops Konami from trying, especially with Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 out next month. A new trailer highlights the beginning of the journey with Naked Snake, who would become Big Boss – a name shunned in memory of his mentor. That would come back to haunt him in Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, which is included in the remastered compilation (and features new high-resolution cutscenes).
The finale centers around a completely different Snake, however, as Solid Snake ventures to stop Outer Heaven, led by Liquid Ocelot, from wreaking havoc. Sure, it may be a glorified way to remind everyone that Delta: Snake Eater exists, but the re-releases of Peace Walker and Guns of the Patriots look pretty good, especially since this is the first time the latter has been made available for other platforms.
Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 is out on August 27th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. Check out the full resolutions and frame rates for both titles across all platforms. There’s also over an hour of Metal Gear Solid 4 gameplay to see here.
