Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls is only 16 days away, though PS5 and PC players can go hands-on with the open beta this weekend. In the meantime, a new Character Guide trailer is available for Illyana Rasputin, aka Magik. Fighting for the Unbreakable X-Men, she utilizes her Soulsword, Dark Portals and the power of Limbo itself to overwhelm enemies.

You can place two portals at a time in any direction depending on the input. Magik can then enter and exit to surprise an opponent, but that’s all. Projectiles and flaming pillars can also enter them and reappear near an enemy, and a Dark Portal allows for canceling out of attacks like the anti-air Rising Soul.

Her Ultimate is Darkchild, which transforms her and causes all attacks to deal additional damage. Its duration depends on the amount of Skill Gauge remaining when it’s used. When activated again, Queen of Limbo activates for a stylish attack. If you activate Darkchild and swap out Magik, her meter will continue to tick down, but all Assists will utilize the same properties, providing some extra firepower from the sidelines.

All in all, Illyana provides a unique play-style that fans of mobility and mix-ups will enjoy. How she’ll rank against top picks like Star-Lord and Ghost Rider remains to be seen, so stay tuned for more updates when the beta lands.
