Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls‘ open beta starts on July 24th at 12 AM PST and ends on July 26th, with Arc System Works detailing everything you can expect. And suffice it to say that this is perhaps one of the biggest betas for a fighting game in recent memory, with 15 playable characters, six stages, and even a sample of Episode Mode.

The characters in question include the entirety of the Unbreakable X-Men and Amazing Guardians alongside Captain America, Iron Man, Black Panther, Ghost Rider, Blade, Doctor Doom and Magneto. Casual play is available alongside Ranked matches, providing our first look at how the competitive system works, and Versus Mode for local play against the CPU (or other players).

Start Up Battle offers a tutorial for the game’s mechanics, but you can also dive into Training Mode to refine those combos with customizable settings. When playing online, the Open Lobby will offer 16 avatars to choose from as you explore and face off against others.

As for Episode Mode, it includes the Amazing Guardians story, or at least the first three chapters, which is more than enough to highlight how it works. At launch, you can expect about 10 hours of content overall, including boss fights against the Promoter and the Champion.

Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls launches on August 6th for PS5 and PC, with even more information to be revealed on July 24th at SDCC.
