Helldivers 2 developer Arrowhead Game Studios has announced new sweeping measures to ensure that cheaters plaguing the game are removed. In a post, the studio explained that there were plenty of cheaters and exploiters who “ruin the experience” for other players through rapid Super Credit farming.
As part of this move, players who earn Super Credits at an “unreasonably high rate”, described as substantially higher than the highest earnings ever recorded by players, will be targeted by Arrowhead. The developer has also assured regular players that, as long as they aren’t partaking in these cheats and exploits, they will be safe.
“If you’re playing the game, grinding maps, clearing POIs, looting bunkers, you will never experience any change. So keep on liberating with your squad on a marathon grind, or even a full weekend of play. The cap exists to catch bad actors, not to slow you down,” explained Arrowhead.
While the studio hasn’t given precise details on where it draws the line in categorizing a player’s Super Credits earning rate as legitimate or cheating, it has said that this allows Super Credit rewards to feel meaningful for regular players. Through this, the developer also wants to “level the playing field across every planet and every player population.” These measures aren’t just limited to earning Super Credits; Arrowhead has confirmed that other reward currencies, like Medals, Samples, and Requisition, will also be brought into the same system.
This announcement comes just a little over a week after Arrowhead kicked off the newest objective for Helldivers 2 – to take on more Terminids in the effort to build a gigantic space wall to hold back Terminid advances, dubbed TCS 2.0. Through a campaign brief video, the studio said that TCS 2.0 is “bigger, better, and safer than Termicide 1 ever was.” Contributing to its construction will reward players with the R-4 Hyena Marksman Rifle.
The new storyline acts as a sequel of sorts to the attempt at launching TCS – the Terminid Control System – during the Second Galactic War. TCS was essentially an initiative by Super Earth to construct towers that would disperse Termicide across entire planets. While the campaign saw some early success, it backfired horribly when new types of Terminids emerged that were immune to the effects.
The construction of TCS 2.0 is the first Galactic Campaign for Helldivers 2. Galactic Campaigns were detailed last month, with Arrowhead referring to the system as the “next evolution of Major Orders”. Game director Mikael Eriksson said that the concept came about because the studio wants to “make these rewards special, because we also think players should earn more than just medals.”
Helldivers 2 is available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. After launching in 2024, the co-op shooter has seen continued success and extensive post-launch support, including the recent implementation of upscalers like Nvidia DLSS 4 and AMD FSR 4.
