Just when it seemed like State of Play Japan could have been an email, Sucker Punch Productions debuted a second trailer for Ghost of Yōtei. This time, the focus is on Echoes of Sekigahara, an upcoming story expansion which sees Atsu confronting a former comrade, Nagato.

It’s a less-than-cheerful reunion, however, since they seemingly split on bad terms years ago during the Battle of Sekigahara. Of course, a major gameplay component of the expansion is reliving those moments from Atsu’s past and partaking in massive conflicts. In the present day, the Vipers, a gang of outlaws, have kidnapped someone close to Atsu, and she’s trying to get them back.

Since Nagato has a bounty on his head, the two team up for one last job. Throughout the trailer, we see new enemies and a new weapon type – a hefty two-handed axe. It also seems Atsu has new abilities, including directing two wolves to attack an enemy. Along the way, she finds some camaraderie with Nagato, which only makes you wonder how they ended up on such bad terms.

Ghost of Yōtei: Echoes of Sekigahara goes live on October 1st, both standalone and as part of the Complete Edition (which current owners can upgrade to for $14.99). It coincides with a free update that adds Most Wanted, a rogue-like survivor mode. Head here for more details, including the reveal of Jin Sakai as a playable hunter.
