Game Jawn’s EverQuest Legends officially launches this afternoon – are you playing?

We’ve got just a few hours left until the proper launch of EverQuest Legends, what we’ve been calling a “reimagining” of classic EverQuest, created by former emulator modders at Game Jawn in collaboration with Daybreak itself.

“Developed in collaboration with Game Jawn, a team with deep roots in the EverQuest community, EverQuest Legends features all the magic and nostalgia of EverQuest from 1999, with new features, modern gameplay systems and numerous quality-of-life enhancements,” today’s launch announcement reads.

“For existing EverQuest players, former players, or new players who have never experienced the world of Norrath, EverQuest Legends offers the opportunity to enjoy everything classic EverQuest has to offer, plus a lot more. With its flexible group or solo playstyle, EverQuest Legends provides players with the ability to create immensely powerful characters by selecting up to three different active classes per character. As players level up and improve their gear, they gain the ability to take on the most difficult content in the game, whether alone or with a small group of friends. EverQuest Legends features the continents of Antonica, Faydwer, and Odus (pre-Kunark), and all of the EverQuest playable races (including Iksar, Frogloks, and Kerran), all featured in the original EverQuest art style, including the classic graphics, zones, spell effects, loot, and music, as well as more than a few new surprises.”

As we’ve previously noted, the game is $20 at launch, which includes the first month baked in, then a $10 monthly sub after that. A producer’s letter dropped in the wee hours of this morning; David “Sysyphus” Youssefi, the Daybreak staffer now flagged as “executive director,” reiterates that Kerrans and 4K scaling will be ready for launch. The roadmap we got over the weekend is confirmed now too. Launch is expected at 3 p.m. EDT this afternoon (noon PDT), but expect it to be a bit rocky.

“For the launch, please note that we will be opening the servers in stages [today] to help avoid stability issues,” the devs caution fans. “Accordingly, please expect possible delays and queues when logging in. Demand for the game has exceeded our expectations, so we will be monitoring the game’s performance and increasing server capacity as necessary.”
