Following recent layoffs across Electronic Arts, including employees who worked on the successful Battlefield 6, it seems the company has decided to reward CEO Andrew Wilson with bonus payments. According to a new 10K report filed with the United States’ Securities and Exchange Commission (via Eurogamer), Wilson was paid $38,694,984 in the form of stock awards and bonus pay.

The company has also been rewarding some of its other executives. CFO Stuart Canfield, for instance, received $11.3 million, while EA president Laura Miele got $13.7 million and chief people officer Mala Singh received $8.3 million.

While the exact reasons behind these payments haven’t been revealed, the filing has noted that, with Battlefield 6, the company “achieved meeting all milestones for a high-quality launch.” EA Sports FC also seemingly played a role, having “achieved meeting specified retention goal, meeting audience growth targets for FC Mobile in specified geography, and meeting key product execution milestones.”

Even lesser-regarded titles like Skate seemingly resulted in executive leadership receiving bonus payments, thanks to surpassing a certain number of players.

These bonuses come as Electronic Arts undergoes its acquisition by an investor consortium that includes Saudi Arabia’s PIF, Silver Lake, and Affinity Partners. Valued at $55 billion, the all-cash deal was approved by EA’s shareholders back in December 2025. Once the process is complete, the PIF will own 93.4 percent of EA. Silver Lake Partners and Affinity Partners, on the other hand, will end up with 5.5 percent and 1.1 percent ownership of EA, respectively.

“Our creative and passionate teams at EA have delivered extraordinary experiences for hundreds of millions of fans, built some of the world’s most iconic IP, and created significant value for our business. This moment is a powerful recognition of their remarkable work,” said Wilson in a statement when announcing the deal.

“Looking ahead, we will continue to push the boundaries of entertainment, sports, and technology, unlocking new opportunities. Together with our partners, we will create transformative experiences to inspire generations to come. I am more energized than ever about the future we are building.”

A report from earlier this year, however, has indicated that the deal might attract some scrutiny from the US Federal Trade Commission. Lawmakers, including more than 40 House Democrats in the US Congress, have written and signed a letter to FTC chairman Andrew Ferguson to review the deal.

Key targets of the review would revolve around making sure that the acquisition doesn’t affect “fair, competitive labor markets” and that American jobs remain safeguarded.

Similarly, developers at some of EA’s studios, like BioWare, have also spoken about how they are worried that the company will undergo further cost-cutting to make the deal more palatable for its new owners. “I’ve been doing it since last year, but I’m making sure I have a portfolio ready and feelers out for other jobs,” said one developer. “Kind of feels like a matter of time.”
